Hong Kong LCC Oasis Hong Kong Airlines wants service to the US and filed an application with the DoT.
Travel Weekly says that "Oasis, which began its first service with two-class flights on 747 aircraft between Hong Kong and London (Gatwick) in October, wants DOT approval to fly to both Oakland, Calif., and Chicago."
Oasis plans the Oakland service for June 1. On its Hong Kong-London route, Oasis charges $148 one way (plus taxes, fees) and $926 for business class. Oasis CEO Steve Miller expects "fares between Hong Kong and Oakland … will be slightly higher on this longer route" than on the Hong Kong-London route.
Having seen JetBlue's brilliant move with Aer Lingus last week, how long will we have to wait for a deal with Oasis? Inquiring minds think it will be in less than 120 days after June.
