Delta and WheelTug

In an unusual move for Delta, it is pioneering a concept of using electric drive motors on its planes in order to save fuel and no longer require tugs at airports. Its early days, but a very interesting move.

Using the WheelTug system on its 737s, Delta will be able to save a lot of gas. It also negotiated an agreement gives Delta the right of first refusal to provide installation and maintenance services on WheelTug systems for itself and for other airlines that desire such services.

Delta has never been a pioneer and this is quite exciting to see. This is a novel concept and could be very useful for any airline.
